The image thing is the avatar you use on DA - very small, I know. Says the file should be a 50x50 px PNG, JPEG or GIF image that is smaller than 15 KB. You can edit this setting in the Edit Profile settings, which you will find to the right. (most of your options are to the right, like submitting something to your gallery) You can fix the avatar setting there, and turning to the next page you can edit your actual profile. None are required to be filled out, you just do that if you feel like it.

Comments are just.. comments. Like, this post you made in another user's place is kinda like making a UN back in the forums when comparing. What sucks though is that you can't edit any of your comments after they have been posted, at all. So controlling grammar and such is smart. You get message in the inbox if:

1. Someone has commented in your pictures/stories (they're called deviations).
2. Someone has replied to a comment you have made.
3. Someone replies to your journal.

When people post on your "main page" that won't pop up in your message inbox, only if it's like #2. Also, PMs here are Notes - that's the private messaging on DA. I have some tips for you if you want to add something in your posts:
For bold text you write <*B>text<*/B> without the *. For some reason they don't use [] here, took forever until I found out. Same with italic and underline.
If you want to link to yourself you write : devusername : OR : iconusername : without the spaces. Like so: ~OrangeyPorangey or
You click on emoticons that you find to the bottom right if you want to use any, or just remember the codes for them.

Why you did this? Because the site is greenish grey..? Loads of good art here though, very inspireing.

Collect means..... dunno. It's something new and unimportant. I think it has to do with the "adding pictures to your favourites and sorting them out in folders later".

Just a warning - when you submit something you HAVE to know the category your picture belongs to. That in itself is confusing enough, and DA changes so much in there over time. For now, I'd say you draw Traditional art - Drawings. If you pick no category that means your picture will end up in your scraps gallery. My scraps are bigger than my actual gallery, lol.

I don't get how to get a little image thingy like how you have that girl with the purple hair. And what's the difference between messages and comment like things like this? Are they like the same thing? RAAA
