CD cover design assignment 05

Damnit, I don't know if this goes in fanart or fantasy.. >> It is from a fairy tale, after all..

Anywhoo...

This was a project we had in school this spring which I told you about - to create a design for a CD cover with the words "Eventyr" ( eventyr = fairy tale ) on it. And I chose to paint Rapunzel! I'm very pleased with the results and grateful that we were allowed to make it in comic style, since I'm quite fond to draw manga art.. It's very green, yes. Green's good.

The story for the unknown;
Rapunzel's actual parents had to give her away to some sorceress or something because they kinda blew it in the past by getting her pissed, and she has grown up with her. Around the age of twelve she was locked in a tower in the midfdle of the deep forest for reasons I have no idea what are, a tower which had no doors to enter, only a window with some hook thingy. She had to let her hair grow extremly long so that the sorceress could climb up the tower and in to her, and never let anyone else in, least of all a man - she had no idea what a man looked like! X_x
And one day a prince (I think) heard Rapunzel sing and wanted to see her really badly, but you don't get far without doors. So he noticed that the sorceress would call out "Rapunzel, let down your hair!" to get in to the tower, so one day he did the same by immitating her. He climbed up to Rapunzel who was shocked at first, but they fell in love and started seeing each other in secret whenever he climbed up to her. But one day Rapunzel accidently talked too much when the sorceress was with her, and she got pissed; she cut off the long hair and sent her to the desert so she could trick the prince to climb up to her instead. Of course he did, and he gets to pay - he fell into torns that stabbed both of his eyes so he became blind.. X_x;;
It does end happily though; two years after the incident (I think) the prince was still in sorrow for losing his love, and happened to stumble into her in the desert she now had to live in. He recognized her voice since she was singing again, they kiss and cry in joy for finding eachother again, her tears fell into his eyes and heeled them, and weee!! Happy, happy ending!

I know the tower looks weird, but no matter how many times I tried it would not look normal!! Curse the stupid laws of perspectives! >< Making things difficult.. Almost everyone in my class chose either Rapunzel, Thumbelina, Sleeping Beauty or Little Red Riding Hood - and all of the dresses were either red, pink, blue, white and stuff. I think I was the only one who made a green one. ^^ Green's pretty me thinks and isn't so stereotypical when it comes to dresses in fairy tales. Can you see that it's very inspired by princess Fiona's dress from the Shrek movies? And her hair is being braided (is that even a word?) kinda similliar to Nemesteth's hair. ^^ To make things less complicated, braids can be a pain to draw if it's the one that goes with three or four ways.
